Eirelingo is an Irish (Connacht) vocabulary study app built around spaced repetition and native audio. This policy explains what data Eirelingo collects and why, and credits the open data sources and speech technology that make the app possible.
Your account and study data are stored with Supabase (our database, authentication, and storage provider). Irish audio is synthesized by the text-to-speech providers listed under Content, data & attribution below. These providers process data on our behalf to operate the app.
Eirelingo's dictionary, grammar, example sentences, and level tagging are built from openly licensed language resources. We're grateful to the projects and communities behind them. Where a licence requires attribution or share-alike terms, the derived data we ship is provided under the same terms.
Irish headwords, meanings, and pronunciations derive from Wiktionary, extracted via Wiktextract / kaikki.org. Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Gender, genitive and plural forms, and initial mutations draw on BuNaMo, the Irish National Morphology Database by Michal Boleslav Měchura, provided under an open licence (CC BY-SA 4.0).
Example phrases and sentences come from the Tatoeba project, licensed under CC BY 2.0 FR.
Deck levels follow the TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge) syllabi from Maynooth University — A1 to C1. TEG is the reference framework for the levels; Eirelingo is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by TEG or Maynooth University.
Spoken Irish is generated with neural text-to-speech, including Microsoft Azure Neural TTS (ga-IE) and the Connacht (Conamara) synthetic voice from ABAIR, developed by the Phonetics and Speech Laboratory at Trinity College Dublin, with eSpeak NG as a fallback. Eirelingo is not affiliated with these providers; their voices are used under their respective terms.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: open your profile from the Home screen, then Delete account. This removes your account and all associated decks, cards, and study history. The deletion cannot be undone.
Eirelingo is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
