Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 30, 2026
Memio is built around one principle: your voice memos and the thoughts you record are yours. This policy explains what data Memio handles, where it lives, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
What we don't collect
Soluna Interactive — the studio behind Memio — does not operate any servers that collect, store, or process your personal data, voice recordings, or transcripts. We don't have user accounts on our servers, because we don't have servers. We don't run analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers. We don't sell data because we don't have any to sell.
What's stored on your device
When you use Memio, the following stays on your iPhone or iPad:
- Voice recordings you create
- Transcripts generated from those recordings
- Summaries, outlines, and topic extractions produced by Apple Intelligence on your device
- Memio recaps (monthly and yearly summaries) that Memio generates from your data
- Folders, categories, and other organizational metadata you create
- Your app preferences (theme, dark mode, playback speed, etc.)
- If you set one: a hashed PIN code, stored securely in your device's Keychain
- If you provide them: a display name, email address, and profile photo
- If you sign in with Apple: a stable Apple ID identifier (Apple does not give us your real Apple ID or email)
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, Memio uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your data across your devices via your private iCloud database (iCloud.app.memio.ios.private). This is the same mechanism Apple's own apps use. We do not have access to your iCloud database, and we are not responsible for the availability, performance, or data integrity of Apple's iCloud services. Apple's iCloud privacy practices apply: see apple.com/legal/privacy.
On-device AI
Memio uses two on-device AI components:
- WhisperKit — transcribes your voice memos. Runs entirely on your device. No audio is sent to any server.
- Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) — generates summaries, extracts topics, and writes monthly/yearly recaps. Runs on-device on supported hardware. See apple.com/apple-intelligence for Apple's privacy commitments.
Memio does not use any cloud-based language model. Your transcripts and summaries are not sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other third-party AI service.
App Store and TestFlight data
Memio is distributed through the Apple App Store and (during beta) TestFlight. When you download the app, join a beta, or make a purchase, Apple collects information according to Apple's terms and privacy policy. This data is governed by Apple, not us. We receive only aggregated, anonymous statistics from Apple — download counts, crash reports, subscription metrics — and no personally identifiable information.
We have no control over, and no responsibility for, Apple's data collection, retention, or processing practices. For details on what Apple collects and how to manage it, see Apple's privacy policy.
Subscriptions and payments
If you upgrade to Memio Pro, the subscription is processed and managed by Apple. Apple is the merchant of record. We do not see, store, or process your payment information. Subscription management (renewal, cancellation, refunds) is handled through your Apple ID account in iOS Settings or the App Store app.
Your rights
Because we don't have any data about you on our servers, there's nothing for us to provide, delete, or correct. To remove your data:
- Within Memio: delete individual memos or use the "Reset All Data" option (when available) to wipe local data
- Uninstall the app: removes all on-device data immediately
- Manage iCloud data: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Memio
Children's privacy
Memio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has been using Memio in a way that requires our attention, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be communicated via the app. Continued use of Memio after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
